This course received a mini-facelift in 1996 to help alleviate some of the drainage problems the course had experienced in the past. A pond that sat in front of the green on hole #11 was removed and several bunkers were added, and new tees boxes were built on holes #12 and #15. The green was expanded on #15, as well as the green on #16, making it one of the largest on the course at approximately 2,200 square feet. In addition, new cart paths have been installed. The fast greens are medium-sized. Hole #4, a short 370-yard, par 4, features a huge green and is one of the most famous holes. The course winds up and down Spyglass Hill, so expect many uneven lies. Hole #1, nicknamed "Treasure Island," has an island green surrounded by sand. Hole #14, "Long John Silver," features a double dogleg fairway. "GOLF Magazine" rates the course as one of the "Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S." It also ranks it among the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." The club is a sponsor of the AT&T National Pro Am.
